How To Clean Exercise Machines Safely and Effectively

Don't Be "That Guy"!

Wiping down sweaty machines is a quick and easy way to rid a gym of germs and bacteria.
Instructions / Things You'll Need:

  • Paper towel or cloth
  • Cleaning solution (three-parts water to one-part detergent)

    How to Clean Weight Machines:


  1. Step 1
    Spray the cleaning solution onto a paper towel before a workout. The person before you may not have cleaned the machine. Don't spray the solution directly onto the machine.
  2. Step 2
    Wipe the handles, screen and anyplace else your hands will touch during your workout. Remove all traces of sweat.
  3. Step 3
    Discard the paper towel, or place the used gym towel in the proper receptacle.
  4. Step 4
    Wash your hands thoroughly or use hand sanitizer.
  5. Step 5
    Repeat the process after you've completed your workout.
