There is no wrong or right way to conquer addiction. As long as the end result is sobriety and better health, you have done something right. There are a lot of ways to combat addiction that you will learn about here in this article. From rehab centers to religious circles, there are a lot of different methods you can choose from to help you overcome your addiction.

A lot of these options aren’t just local to the Broomfield Colorado. These techniques can be implemented no matter where you are located. You can be in the state or out of state, it won’t matter. These 6 top options will follow you wherever you go. I hope you find this information helpful going forward ending your addictions and in your sober living journey.

6 Ways To Help Overcome Addictions

1. Check Into Rehab

Rehab is an amazing method for beating addiction. It is a method that provides a safe and confidential way for addicts to seek treatment without fear of judgment.

If you are someone who really struggles with their addiction, then rehab will give you a safe place to go that will allow you to detox without the fear of medical complications. Nurses and doctors at a rehab clinic are trained to help you detox and overcome addiction as painlessly as possible.

They know how to give you the tools to beat addiction so don’t be afraid to reach out to one of the rehab facilities in Broomfield or one from the next town over. You will find that the staff at rehab facilities are knowledgeable, compassionate, and helpful about the process.

2. Go To Private Therapy

Talking to a therapist about your struggles with your addiction can help you relieve some of the pressure that comes with carrying such a load. A therapist will give you some tools to cope with your reality and help you make decisions to better your emotional health. They’re trained in psychology, which believe it or not is one of the driving influences of addiction.

Therapists have specialties for treating different types of diseases, including addiction. They might be able to help you solve the reason behind why you became addicted, treating underlying depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorders which could be a catalyst that caused your addiction in the first place.

It can be scary talking to someone about your thoughts and feelings but it’s worth it. Therapy will make your mind, if nothing else, feel better.

3. Learn About What Causes Addiction

One of the reasons therapy is so important for those battling addiction is because it all happens in the brain. While being introduced to an addictive substance might be voluntary at first, the chemical of the substance alters the chemicals in your brain. This makes your body crave the substance more and more until you find that you become physically ill without it.

As your brain becomes altered, it becomes increasingly difficult to change your thought patterns and leave your addictive substance behind. Your body can go through a state of withdrawal which can be extremely uncomfortable for addicts.

If you want to get better and beat your addiction, the more information you have regarding why it happens, how it works, and the triggers that make it become worse. If you are struggling with addiction and want to more about what makes it tick and the physical effects it has on your brain, you should see your physician.

4. Practice Religion

Religion can be a great tool in combating addiction and recover your life. For a lot of people, studying or practicing religious beliefs gives them a sense of pride, purpose, and peace of mind. While this path isn’t for everyone, a lot of addicts benefit from religious council.

Whether you are Catholic, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, or Buddhist, talking to a religious leader in your community might be the thing that gives you the strength to overcome your addiction. Religious leaders are often sworn to confidentiality so they can’t speak about the things you told them with someone else.

5. Be Open About Your Addiction

Openly discussing your addiction with those that are around you will help you overcome it. It will remove the weight that’s been sitting on your chest and help you feel better about your situation.

By opening up to a few friends and family members, you’ll make a strong support system that can help you stay on track. Your friends will be able to learn your triggers and help you avoid them. If you’re addicted to alcohol, friends won’t try to pressure you to go out drinking with them anymore. Instead, you can find new ways to hang out and have fun together.

The people who love you want to support you in any way they can no matter what. Even if it’s for something as serious as addiction. You don’t have to struggle alone if you have a network of people by your side.

If you are not sure how to start up the conversation, that’s totally normal. No one really knows how to discuss their addiction at first. Take a look at the link for ways you can talk to your partner about your battle with addiction.

6. Join A Support Group

If you’re struggling with addiction, it might be good for you to join a group with people who are going through the same things that you are. A support group is usually run by someone like a counselor or addiction specialist.

A support group will give you professional, confidential help for your addiction as well as a community of people who just want to get better and overcome their addiction. This can mean that you will have people who aren’t going to pressure you into old habits and understand firsthand what it’s like to be in your shoes.

Support groups can be for your specific kind of addiction and cater to your specific gender or needs if that’s something you want. They can also be religious-based if that is something that interests you as well. Regardless, a support group is something that can help any struggling addict overcome their addiction.

Guide To Start A Mindful Meditation Routine At Home

simple guide starting mindful meditation routine home travel outdoors beach meditating

If you want to start a mindful meditation routine at home, it can be as simple as a few easy steps. There’s no need to have a fancy yoga studio or an entire room dedicated to the pursuit of inner peace. All it takes is a quiet space, time, patience, and a little guided practice. It's a practice of mind over matter, so you can bring the peace and serenity of meditation wherever you go.

Meditation Moments

Mindful meditation is a way to become more aware of what is happening present moment. It allows you to think about the here and now, instead of thinking about your past frustration or future anxieties. Meditating can help reduce stress, boost your mood, improve your focus, and become more centered.

Crystal Clear Meditations

When it comes to meditation results, you want to maximize your efforts and time. You an also use healing crystals to supplement and amplify your mindful meditations. Visit how to cleanse moldavite to get started with a top healing crystal for your meditations and mental cleansing.

Begin By Setting Aside A Time And Place To Meditate

It can be a sunny corner of your living room, a spot in the backyard, or even a park bench. You could even take the time to create a meditation space in your home. Wherever you choose, be sure the area is free of stressors and distractions. Take time to declutter and schedule any necessary home repairs before you begin the practice.

Wear Comfortable Clothing

Anything you would use to practice yoga is fine, but unlike yoga, your clothes do not have to cling. If you prefer to incorporate movement into your meditation such as walking, stretching or yoga poses, feel free to wear whatever you’re comfortable moving around in. There is no wrong way to meditate! If you have time, you could put on a mindfulness audio recording to guide you (this is especially useful for beginners who may not know where to start). Light a candle or rub some lotion on your pulse points to inhale a calming scent.

Start By Taking Some Long, Slow Deep Breaths

Notice your breathing—is your heart beating fast or slowly? How has your day been so far? Take note of emotions that come up and try to let them pass you by, without getting fixated on any of them. This takes a lot of practice, so do not become discouraged if at first you find this very difficult. Everyone has to start somewhere. If you keep becoming distracted, count your breaths - inhale for three counts, hold for four counts, and exhale for six or seven counts. This should put you in a state of relaxation and mindful peace.

Use Some Kind Of Imagery To Focus On

A popular one is to imagine a river flowing slowly, and to drop your problems like pebbles in the river. If this sounds too New Age for you, just picture the river or waves in the ocean. Anything calming and repetitive will have the desired effect while meditating.

Don’t Give Up - Master Meditation

It can take a very long time to actually become “good” at meditation, but any attempt is still progress. Follow these tips and you’ll have a home meditation routine before you know it.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post about a simple guide for starting a mindful meditation routine at home or while traveling.
