This chili recipe will put some pep in your step without adding inches to your waistband or removing inches from your wallet! You could also go vegetarian by removing the ground turkey and adding extra beans and veggies.

Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground turkey
- 2 cans 29 oz black beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 medium sweet green pepper, chopped
- ½ of 3 oz can of tomato paste (you can freeze the remaining)
- 1.5 C water 1 28 oz can of either whole or diced tomato
- 1-2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 bay leaf 2 T chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- ¼-½ whole jalapeno pepper cut into 4 quarters
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Heat a large pot over medium heat. Add meat to the pan and sauteed until browned and crumbled (it is not necessary to add oil to the pan.) Add beans, onion, green pepper, tomato paste, canned tomato, garlic, bay leaf, chili powder, cumin, water and optionally jalapeno pepper. Stir to incorporate ingredients. Turn the heat up to high, cover, and bring to boil. As soon as the pot comes to a boil, turn down heat to low. Simmer for 30-45 minutes, stirring from time to time so that the beans do not stick to the bottom of the pot. Once cooked, remove jalapeno pepper. Eat, enjoy, and repeat!
