If you’ve tried out a crash diet or been to the gym once but beelined straight for the pool then you’re not the first and you certainly won’t be the last. Most of us have tried and failed to get a healthy regime to stick. There’s always an excuse. Either we’re too busy with life and all the responsibilities that come with it or we don’t have enough money to afford workout equipment for our homes. 

However, there should never be any excuse when it comes to being healthy. Your physical and mental state both rely on each other and both should be kept balanced if you want a happy and healthy life. Still, if you’re struggling to stick to any sort of health routine then here are some pointers that might just help.

Eat A Balanced Diet

Eating well doesn’t mean you need to stick to celery and carrots in order to be healthy. Not only will that mean you want to bounce back to your old diet even harder as you starve yourself of any treats whatsoever but it’s actually unhealthy for you. Nothing should be over-consumed. A good diet is one that’s balanced and varied. You need to eat a little bit of everything because moderation is crucial. Your body needs a variety of vitamins and nutrients for sustenance so do some research to make sure you’re getting all the calcium, protein, iron, potassium, and other important things you need to be healthy. Allow yourself the occasional cookie and you’ll find it easier to stick to your diet.

Exercise Little & Often

It’s better to exercise little and often rather than in big bursts very occasionally. You need to find a way to make exercise a part of your daily routine. The best way to achieve this is to stay productive all day. You might have an office job but this doesn’t mean you have to be physically inactive. You could spend 10 minutes of your lunch break jogging around the block near your workplace or go a short walk if you don’t feel like returning to your desk in a sweat. You can set yourself small and manageable goals, essentially. 10,000 steps per day is a good place to start. All that matters is you get your body moving because a little bit of exercise every day is essential for a healthy routine. 

Of course, you might struggle to find a form of exercise that interests you. You try running for a week but then get bored or start to hate it. It’s all about finding ways to incentivize yourself. Maybe you could join a sports club to turn exercise into a social event. You could even look into getting a membership at LeisureWorld Gym if you want to join a gym that’s relaxed and informal. You don’t have to feel pressured or forced into working out but subscribing to a gym can be a good incentive to commit to a new exercise routine in the long-term. Make it your resolution to adopt a healthy routine for a couple of months and see if you want to stick with it beyond that.
