About Reflexology And Its Many Benefits

reflexology hand chart benefits
This is just a hand chart but there are other locations often utilized by reflexologists like ears, feet, and knees

Reflexology  – How You Will Benefit.
•    Brings balance to normalize the body’s organs, glands, and other functions of the body.
•    Reduces stress and promotes relaxation.
•    Improves blood circulation.

•    Assists in managing chronic pain.
•    Promotes circulation and assists in the removal of toxins.
•    Is a complimentary and integrative tool to allopathic and homeopathic practice.
•    Can be a preventative modality.
•    Increases a sense of well being.
•    Encourages the body to release and expel toxins.
Everyone needs Reflexology!!
For Relaxation! If you have never had a reflexology session, the relaxation that comes from a healing session is absolutely incredible. After a one hour session, some clients feel as though they had an entire night of sleep. Chances are good your spine, back and head will feel less stress and tense.
Stress reliever! If you were stressed before you came in for a reflexology session, you will leave feeling relaxed; and, in most cases, your worries will be less intensified. How this does happen? One of the wonders of reflexology is that by working the reflexes for all of the organs, endocrine, spine and back reflexes, endorphins are created and somehow the stress just melts away. Most clients fall asleep during a healing session. Before you know it, many good nights’ sleep will be within your grasp. Also eating healthy & natural foods can help a great deal!
Move those toxins! If you have been experiencing heartburn, digestion and constipation (the  three big no-no). Reflexology will support all three by filtering (liver, spleen and kidney) and eliminating organs (intestines) and encourage the elimination of toxins.
Build up your immunity! So when that cold or virus bug comes looking for you…with regular reflexology there is a good chance that the bug will bypass you. If you have a strong immunity foundation, you will have more of chance to fight off pathogens that find their way into your body.
A feeling of well being! We swear that reflexology helps to quiet the brain and eliminate the constant worries. After a session, everyone loves the way they feel:  balanced and peaceful. Who doesn’t want to feel balanced and well? Reflexology will help keep all of your bodily and mental facilities in check.
What health conditions can Reflexology help with?
* Allergies
* Arthritis
* Asthma
* Back Problems
* Blood Pressure
* Bowel Disorders
* Constipation
* Eczema
* Frozen Shoulder
* Gynecological Disorders
* Hay Fever
* Insomnia
* Knee Problems
* Multiple Sclerosis
* Muscle Tension
* Neck Problems
* PMS/Hormonal Problems
* Respiratory Problems
* Sinusitis
* Stress Disorders
* Thyroid Imbalance
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a science and an art. Reflex points on the feet, hands, and ears represent the body in miniature. The nerve pathways in each foot create an electro-chemical flow that communicates with the entire nervous system.  The principal of reflexology is that reflex points and areas, meridian pathways, and chakra regions connect with a specific organ, gland or body part. Through the application of pressure using specific thumb and finger techniques, reflexology works with the peripheral nervous system and encourages the body to relax. Reflexology promotes the reduction of stress, reinforcing the body’s ability to stay healthy and vital. This preventative modality encourages wellness through empowerment, education, relaxation, and homeostasis.
If you have never experienced reflexology before, be sure to check out our Reflexology FAQ’s.
The Healing Place offers the following Reflexology Therapies -
Foot Reflexology Session – This deep relaxing foot reflexology is administered by applying thumb and finger pressure to specific points on the feet. Each specific point corresponds to an internal organ, gland, tissue or other structure. This stress relieving therapy promotes the alpha state of relaxation, which in turn improves circulation and restores balance, enabling the body to heal itself.
Hand Reflexology Session – This is a relaxing hand therapy that can be administered alone or be given in conjunction with a foot reflexology session. Hand reflexology is administered by applying thumb and finger pressure to specific points on the hand. Each specific point corresponds to an internal organ and other structure of the body and allows for the release of energy blocks and toxic build-up.
Ear Reflexology Session – This is an extremely relaxing therapy. Each ear contains a complete reflex map of the body, rich with nerve endings and multiple connectors to the central nervous system. Ear Reflexology is based on zones and points in the ears which relate to energy centers known as a meridian. The shape of the body is projected into the ear. The head is located in the ear lobe while the legs are located at the opposite end.  Ear reflexology is administered by applying thumb and first finger working on the outside of the ears from the lobe to the top of the ear.
Digestive Disorder session – This is a very effective therapy. This protocol includes working the reflexes for the liver, spleen, kidney, gastrointestinal, esophagus, large and small intestine and colon. By working the reflexology intestinal reflexes in the direction of peristalsis can help move contents through the gastrointestinal tract. Reflexology promotes the harmonious contraction and relaxation of the diaphragm resulting in a rhythmical massage of the abdominal organs.  Reflexology also helps to release muscular and emotional tension, both of which can severely hamper the digestive process. Reflexology also can unblock congested energy, promoting a free flow of energy through all channels so that the digestive process from the mouth to the anus can work effectively. Most importantly, it stimulates the energy pathways to allow the digestive system to work optimally (as reflexology does for all bodily systems).
Fertility Reflexology Session – This protocol includes fertility reflexology supports and conscious conception. The endocrine and reproductive systems are emphasized with attention to creating balance. Sessions can be used as a complement to assisted reproductive technologies (ART), such as IVF, IUI, and ICSI. It is recommended that male partners also participate in fertility reflexology to aid in sperm and testosterone production and to create balance and harmony in the body. Reflexology will also help to lessen the stress and anxiety associated with conceiving.
Hormonal Balancing Reflexology Session -This healing protocol includes hormonal balancing reflexology treatment has been helpful to women who suffer from PMS; heavy, painful and irregular menstrual cycles; and hormonal fluctuations. By stimulating the endocrine and reproductive glands, this treatment has in many cases eased tension and reduced or eliminated the “hot flashes” associated with menopause. For men, the hormonal balancing reflexology treatments help increase testosterone levels by stimulating the endocrine and reproductive glands reflexes.
Pain Relief Reflexology Session – This healing protocol includes foot reflexology that encourages the body to produce the painkiller chemical “endorphins” and to interrupt the pain cycle through the application of pressure on the feet and/or hands. This treatment emphasizes working with the nervous system to help reduce pain and inflammation resulting from different forms of arthritis, multiple sclerosis, lupus, etc.
Weight Management Reflexology Session – This healing protocol includes foot reflexology with an emphasis on the endocrine glands. The goal is to promote balanced hormone secretion in order to boost the body’s natural weight loss capabilities and encourage appropriate diet.
“Mommy and Baby” Reflexology Service – If your baby is having problems with either sleeping, digestive or respiratory, bring your baby with you to your next Reflexology session. A little Reflexology will help you and your baby to feel better soon.  Our baby sessions are short and we will work on the points of the feet to help your baby to find relief from his or her discomforts. Most likely your baby will nod off into a peaceful sleep. While your baby is sleeping we will work on mommy to help her to balance the energy in all of her organs, glands and address any hormonal issues.
Have Migraine Headaches? Tips how to find Relief – For those who suffer from migraines headaches, it can be debilitating. Sometimes the headaches are unrelenting and the pain can last for days and even weeks. To help clients to find relief of the pain, the Healing Place has made a thirteen minute video (below) on how to relax the body and quiet the headache through some simple Reflexology techniques and using light pressing on pressure points on the head, face, jaw and neck to relieve tension and pain.

Shrimp, Chicken, & Tofu + Lobster Sauce Epic Frugal Recipe Combo!

Contributed By Helen Chin Lui, Owner of Healing Place

Lobster Sauce is a type of sauce used in American-Chinese recipes. Lobster sauce is most commonly used as a sauce for the dish Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. You can substitute the shrimp with squid, any solid white fish and/or scallops. If you are adventurous you can combine 2 cups of various seafood,  i.e., ½ c cleaned, peeled, shrimp, 1 c of fish cut in 1” pieces, and a  1/2 cup of cleaned, sliced into rings, squid.
Most people believe that lobster sauce contains lobster meat. In fact there is no lobster in the lobster sauce. In Cantonese cuisine, the lobster sauce is poured over stir-fried lobster in the shell. In this type of lobster sauce there are eggs in this recipe.
The dish typically contains chicken broth or water to make the gravy, garlic, ginger, and fermented black beans. The sauce is thickened with cornstarch. For meat you may use either ground pork, ground chicken or ground turkey meat.

Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Serves: 6-8
Recipe can be halved or doubled.
Ingredients
1 lb of either ground chicken, turkey or pork  meat
¾ lb of peeled, shrimp
1 lb of firm tofu, diced into 1″  chunks
1 medium, thinly, sliced, zucchini *
½ lb fresh string beans *
1 C fresh or frozen peas*
1 small, thinly sliced, onion
2 T oyster sauce**
2 T black bean and garlic sauce or paste**
3 chopped fine, fresh garlic
2 thin slices, finely chopped, ginger
2 C of canned or fresh chicken stock or water
¼ t of hot pepper flakes (optional)
3 T roux (mix 2 T of corn starch with 4 T of room temp water)
Oil for the skillet
*You may use up to 2 C of any combined vegetables, i.e. ½ string beans, 1 sliced yellow squash and 1 sliced zucchini. You may use any vegetables you have on hand.
**found in the Asian isle of market
Directions:
Note: To prevent overcooking, the vegetables, meat and shrimp are all cooked separately. Then all ingredients are put back into the pan to finish cooking together along with the tofu, oyster sauce and black bean and garlic paste. Then add chicken stock or water. Then add corn starch roux to  thicken to your liken.
In a large skillet, pour enough oil to cover the pan (about 3 T.) Heat over high heat until oil is hot. Add garlic, ginger and onion and cook until lightly browned (about 4-5 minutes). While stirring, add shrimp and cook until pink (keep garlic, ginger and onion in the pan.) Remove shrimp and set aside. Add ground meat and cook until done (about 3-4 mins.) Crumble meat so that there are no large lumps. Stir. Once cooked, remove and set aside. If you need more oil, add another tablespoon or 2, more garlic if you want, and sautéed vegetables until tender (about 5-7 minutes).
Stirring continuously, add the cooked chicken, shrimp, tofu, oyster sauce and black bean and garlic paste back into the pan. Add chicken stock. With a lid on, bring mixture to a boil. Take lid off, while stirring, add corn starch roux in a thin stream and pour enough roux to thickened the sauce to your liken. Continuously stir until gravy has thickened (about 3 minutes.) If the sauce is too thick add more stock or water (about 1-3 T) and if it is too thin add more roux and continuously stir over high heat until it is the right consistency.
Serve over white or brown rice.

Diabetes, Eyesight, & Health

Contributed By Helen Chin Lui, Owner of The Healing Place

(NewsUSA) – Diabetes is a serious disease that can affect many aspects of the body — the heart and kidneys, blood circulation and even the eyes. In fact, diabetic eye disease increased in prevalence by 89 percent between 2000 and 2010 and is a leading cause of blindness among American adults. Despite this, vision care is often overlooked by people with diabetes as they work to manage the many other health problems the disease can cause.
According to a survey by the American Optometric Association, 55 percent of people are unaware that diabetic eye disease often has no visual signs or symptoms. Additionally, 44 percent of Americans don’t know that a person with diabetes should have a comprehensive eye exam once a year, including a retina (dilated) eye exam. Yet, these exams are the only way to diagnose serious eye diseases associated with diabetes at its early stage. Regular retina eye exams are critical for early detection and treatment of these progressive eye diseases that often begin without warning.
The longer a person has diabetes, the higher their risk for eye disease. Over time, diabetes may cause damage to the blood vessels in the back of the eye, known as diabetic retinopathy, which can lead to diabetic macular edema (DME). DME occurs when the damaged blood vessels leak fluid and cause swelling. Although symptoms are not always present, this swelling can cause blurred vision, double vision and patches in vision, which may appear as small black dots or lines “floating” across the front of the eye.
Approximately 26 million Americans have diabetes and may be at risk for DME. More than 560,000 Americans have DME. Yet, approximately 55 percent are unaware that they have the disease. African Americans and Hispanics over the age of 40 are also at a higher risk for DME.

* Getting an annual retina eye exam is the best way to help detect changes in vision
* Don’t wait — make an appointment with a retina specialist today

Chakras & Body Awareness For Natural Healing

chakras body awareness natural healing

Ignoring or even lack of awareness of our body’s signals usually cause more burden and stress which can result in the sacrifice of daily exercising, we end up overeating, or finding ourselves with too many items left unaccomplished at the end of a day thus re-creating the negative behavior cycle! The joy we know diminishes and we don’t know how to get it back.

We KNOW when we are uncomfortable, but  most of the times we do not know why or we just ignore the messages. Out of frustration, we feel anger,  nervousness or numb.

Some people resort to eating, drinking, or other activities that are destructive to their bodies. For comfort and rest we look for temporarily escape from these uncomfortable feelings through destructive behavior.

Instead of turning inward, some people will lash out at other, funneling  negative feelings towards their family members and friends. Over time, such angry and bitter emotions turn negative state of mind

*thinking about how you got cheated out of something in life

*how you wished you follow your instincts and not made that wrong decision

*how your children did not turn out the way you expected them to

*how your spouse became ill or died too young or ran off with your best friend

*how you were laid off after giving your company years of services

When this happens, is there anything to question as to why you are so mad and angry; why you can’t sleep; how you find yourself reliving the same scenes over and over in your mind.

After replaying the same old negative thoughts, it almost guarantees those negative thoughts become seeds that will manifest into illnesses.

Have you been aware of your thoughts?

Are they negative?

Are you blaming someone?

Frugal Recipe: Mighty Meat Stew!

Contributed By Amanda Santucci, Author of The Skinny Spice
It’s MARCH and the cold winter is (unfortunately) still here.  In hopes of improving my mood, I downed some Vitamin D and made this stew.  It’s simple, healthy, and hearty. Essentially you chop up some meat, veggies, pour in some broth, and cook it in the crockpot all day until you get home from work. Then you’ll have a delicious dinner just waiting for you to sit down and enjoy it.
Ingredients:
1 10 oz package of mushrooms, thickly sliced
1 chopped onion
3 celery stalks (chopped)
2 large carrots (chopped with skin on)
5 on the vine tomatoes (diced)
1 italian pepper (it’s light green in color)
1/2 pound of boneless pork loin
1 pound (or close to it- I used .8 pounds) sirloin beef tips
2-3 garlic cloves (finely chopped)
2 tbsp basil (dried basil or Mrs. Dash is fine)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
2 tbsp olive oil
Optional: splash of red wine
What To Do:
1. Sauté mushrooms and onions together in a little bit of oil and water. Set aside when cooked.
Mushrooms and Onions
2. Chop the beef and pork into chunky pieces. Brown with garlic, basil (or Mrs.Dash), olive oil, and a splash of red wine.
Beef and Pork
3. Combine mushroom and onion mixture with meat, celery, carrots, beef broth, and tomatoes in a crockpot. Stir and let it cook it on low for 5-6  hours or high for 3-4 hours.
Beef Stew Before It's Cooked!
4. Add one box of beef broth and stir.
Add Beef Broth
5. Add additional seasonings (salt, pepper, olive oil) to taste and Parmesan cheese on top. Mangia! (Eat in Italian)

Savory Black Bean & Sausage Soup

Contributed By Helen Chin Lui, Owner of The Healing Place

Nothing like a pot of hot soup on cold and snowy days! From my kitchen to yours.
Prep Time:30 minutes
Cooking Time:30-90 minutes
Serves:12 people easily

Soups are wonderful and they really don’t take a lot of time to make; most of the time is the actual cooking time. Most soups really do not require a recipe, just an inventory of what you have on hand and a little imagination. The base for all soups is a stock (chicken or beef or vegetable), celery, onion and carrots. Once you have your stock base, you can add just about anything. Feel free to add or subtract any ingredient to this recipe. Recipe can be halved.

Ingredients

2 16 oz cans of black beans*
2 16 oz cans of corn, drained, or 3 C frozen corn, or the kernels from 3 medium fresh ears of corn
6-8 links of either mild or hot pre-cooked chicken sausages, or vegetarian sausages
2 large stalks of celery, including leaves, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
3 large or 4 medium carrots, peeled and sliced, or 4 oz (or half bag) baby carrots
10 C pre-made soup stock, chicken or vegetable **
5 C water
1 small bunch kale, washed and chopped, or ¼ 16 oz bag of chopped kale
1 8 oz can chopped tomato
1/3 C fresh cilantro, chopped
1-2 t of chili powder
1 t cumin powder
4-5 cloves garlic, chopped
1 t salt (omit salt if using sausages)
1 t ground black pepper
**You can also use other beans, such as red, cannelloni or navy. If you’d like to start with a bag of dried beans, use 1 16 oz bag of dry black beans, soaked overnight.
** To make homemade chicken stock, place 12 C water in a large soup pot with a 4-5 lb chicken (to eliminate fat, I take the skin off the chicken prior to putting it into the pot.) Bring to a boil, and then reduce heat to a simmer over low heat for 45-60 minutes.  Strain the stock into a bowl, cover, and let cool. Once cool place in the refrigerator. Fat will rise to the top of the cooled broth.  Remove the fat before using. The chicken meat from your stock can be used for another recipe, or add some to your soup.

Directions:

In a large stockpot, add beans, corn, sausage, celery, onion, carrots, stock, water, kale, tomato, cilantro, chili powder, cumin powder, garlic, salt and pepper. If you feel there is not enough liquid in the pot add an additional cup of stock or water.  Bring the contents of the pot to a boil over high heat.  Skim any form that comes to the surface and dispose. Turn heat down to low and simmer, covered for about 30-40 minutes. If you are using canned beans, cooking time is about 30 minutes. If you use dry beans, increase cooking time by another 30 minutes (60 minutes total.) Sample the soup to test for doneness.
For a little more bulk you may top soup with either white or brown rice. Once plated, you may also add more cilantro, and if you choose, some sliced avocado.

Frugal Recipe: Power-Packed Paleo Pancakes

Contributed By Amanda, Author of The Skinny Spice
As my friend Jack Johnson sings about making banana pancakes and pretending like it’s the weekend,
… break it down, paleo style-
Ingredients:
1 mushed ripe banana
1 egg white
1/3 cup almond flour
1/2 cup blueberries
1 tbsp vanilla protein drink (or almond milk will work great as well)
 What To Do:
1. Beat mashed banana with egg white with a fork. Add almond flour and mix. It’s ok if it looks a little chunky.
Add almond flour
2. Add protein drink (or almond milk) and blueberries. Mix.
Add blueberries
3.  Coat the pan with some Pam or a little butter.  Pour about 1/3 cup on the pan on low heat and cook until the outer edges start to bubble a little then flip over and cook through.
Enjoy!
Pour a little agave, honey, or maple syrup on top, add some fruit, and MANGIA!

Million Dollar MeatHead Moron eBook? Good Luck!

Sorry but fitness programs aren't usually "get rich quick" schemes
Syndicated from Frugal Business because sadly it involves the fitness industry...

Just wanted to share a very strange and random email conversation I had with somebody that I've never met or heard of in my life. While I'm all for small business and success, something about this seemed kind of fishy and made me dislike the emailer. Maybe because I know that creating a fitness eBook program is not a "get rich quick" scheme. Maybe because I believe you need to the best out there, in at least a few ways, and pay your dues, before you succeed. I'm not saying it can't be done, look at P90x, but that took awhile, tons of marketing, professional products, and high quality stuff. If you want to make a million dollar product, your first consideration better be how to help improve the quality of life of a customer and not how to get rich quick. If you want to make a million dollar product from scratch, often times it can take years or over a million dollars worth of investment. I'm not really sure why I even responded or kept responding, except to procrastinate on the actual work I really had to do haha. Anyways, enough blabbing, here is the conversation where I think I responded way too nice and optimistically:

Mystery Emailer:
Sorry, I just wanted some advice. I appreciate your time! I'll keep it short. I'm interested in launching my own digital fitness product in the future, in PDF format. I wanted to go for something like P90X and Insanity, but no DVDs/videos. Do you think it's realistically possible to make a million-dollar product in health and fitness, a workout program and diet plan that sells loads of copies a year, without implementing videos and such?

Me:
Anything is possible if it's done well, with enough work put into it, and you stick with it, market it well, provide innovation, satisfy consumer demand, get great connections, and have a little bit of luck. That all being said, people are more visual than ever these days so that is why video marketing and workout videos are so popular and viable. That's all I can really tell you without knowing more about what you have in mind. Hope it helps.

Mystery Emailer:
You say "That's all I can really tell you without knowing more about what you have in mind".

Well basically I plan on having a workout program and diet plan, I'd call it a "system" and sell it for around $30-50 a copy.

It'd be a home-based workout program. The main eBook would run through the program's key principles, the program itself and plenty of tips here and there, as well as instructions and demo pics for each exercise etc. etc. I'd also include a workout log, calendar etc. You know, a few bonuses here and there.

I'd make the eBook look nice and avoid having reams of text. I'd try to put images where I could. I'd make the sales page strong too.

But I want to make a product consumers will actually love and recommend to others. I see all the big programs are DVD-based, that's just my worry! :(

I could play it off and list the advantages of the product being digital, e.g. no shipping costs, lower price, instant download, print it off and carry wherever you like etc.

My main worry is whether or not consumers will be happy. There are big sellers out there like TruthAboutAbs.com but that's more of an info product than a workout "system".

Thoughts?

Me:
There are a lot of eBook workout systems out there, Vince Delmonte, Mike Chang (SixPackShortCuts), Jeff Cavaliere (AthleanX), and a dozen other big fish all utilize the eBook download method for their program. I think their programs cost $50-100 a piece. So again, not to say it's impossible, but it is a growing field that is more competitive every week. If you can bring something to the table that is truly unique and different from their programs that is crucial.

Mysery Emailer:

Thanks.

You say it's more competitive every week... that's actually promising, that means more and more demand right?

So there is strong demand for eBook workout systems? Do you think any of the guys you just listed are actually making millions?

Thank you.

P.S. I'll definitely be original.

Me:
I'd say demand is increasing, but competition seems to be increasing at an even faster rate. But maybe that's just my perspective as a small fish trying to thrive in a big pond. If I had to guess, the most successful of those guys might make 100-200k per year, but probably including all of their sources of revenue including advertising revenue, sponsorships, and other campaigns. Most of the people I know who are not those "big fish" make more like 20 grand a year or MUCH LESS, not much at all. It's not easy, you're competing against million dollar and billion dollar corporations who are getting into the industry. Again, just my experiences and thoughts. I wish you the best!

-------------------------
Pretty weird eh? Not sure why I was so polite instead of telling him he's probably going to fail in epic fashion.

So, if you want to make a copycat product, or think that you are going to make a multi-million dollar product overnight, good luck!
